Reiki

Reiki is a gentle hands on healing which is fantastic for helping people to relax, to heal themselves and to connect with themselves on a deeper level.

I love to use this therapy in between remedies for people who have anxiety or depression or extreme pain so that they have more regular contact with a therapist and can learn to practice some of the techniques for self healing or just for relaxtion and reflection.

I simply use my hands placed on, or sometimes just near, different areas of the client's body. There may a feeling of heat or cold, pulsating, or sensations of energy. Sometimes people experience an intensification of sensation or emotion, or a reduction of pain. Most people simply report a deeply relaxed state both during and afterwards.

I can teach people breathing and relaxation techniques using Reiki. It can be a very powerful tool in learning to manage pain or anxiety.

Reiki originated in Japan. It is a technique for reducing stress and enhancing relaxation which also promotes healing. It is based on the idea that an unseen energy or chi flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If this energy is low for some reason, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stressed, and if it is high, we are more likely to be healthy and happy.

Rei in Japanese means 'God's Wisdom' or 'Higher Power' and Ki denotes 'life force or energy'.

A treatment feels like an energy that flows through and around you. It treats the whole person - body, emotions, mind and spirit. It has beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.
